Well since this week is my Spring Break Chris and I had to get out of Bakersfield atleast for the day. Yesterday we decided to just hop onto I5 and head south and not make any more plans than that. Our first stop was In-N-Out where we had cheeseburgers and shared an order of animal style fries. We then headed out to City Walk at Universal Studios and walked through the shops.
Our next destination was Santa Monica. For those of you who don't know, Chris is a bit of a beer snob. If you ever are at the melodrama look above the snack bar in the lounge and look at his ever growing beer bottle collection. Well he's been searching for a particular IPA and knew of a place in Santa Monica that was supposed to carry it. When we went to the store the man working at the counter said they were out but just then the other employee yelled out that they had just recieved a shipment just then. It was Chris' lucky day. Chris isn't the only one with snobbery in this story, I'm a cupcake snob. There I said it. My name is Shaylan Trone and I love cupcakes. We were driving down Wilshire Blvd. and that's when I saw it, The Vanilla Bake Shop. I've seen this place online before but never realized I would have the pleasure of stopping in. Chris found a place to park, 7 dollars later the car was parked and we were dashing to the bake shop. It was more amazing that I ever imagined. Visit their website at http://www.vanillabakeshop.com/. Chris and I shared a meyer lemon raspberry cupcake.
We had a long ride home full of traffic, Chris had to be back in town by 6:30pm for rehearsal. However, pictures of that cupcake make the 5 hours in the car completely worth it. I can't wait to go back.
We had a great day trip together! The weekend after Easter the melodrama doesn't have a show so Chris and I are going to spend the weekend with my parents over in Arroyo Grande. Wine tasting adventure here we come!
